I FEEL LIKE A STUFFED TURKEY!

Thanksgiving was wonderful! We went to Dyke's brother's house and had a delicious meal and we were all miserable afterwards from eating so dang much! It was fun to all get together again! The tryptophen kicked in as usual!

ON FRIDAY, I WAS UP AND GONE BEFORE THE SUN WOKE THE PLANET...I HAULED A TRAILER TO FT. WORTH TO GO LOOK AT A HORSE. 6 HOURS OF DRIVING FOR A 20 MINUTE LOOK...IT WASN'T THE HORSE THAT I AM SUPOSSED TO HAVE.

I've been getting ready for the Happy Hour/Jewelry Trunk Show out at The Waggoner Ranch next Sunday. Joline has been so gracious to extend the invite for another great afternoon with friends! It was a lot of fun last year, so I am really looking forward to it! I have some new jewelry designs and have added more western gift items.

Zack has been getting up at 5:30am to go duck hunting at the tank. A cold front has hit, so it's very cold, windy and rainy...perfect, he says, for hunting ducks. He is very determined to get a duck with his custom made longbow.

He doesn't look like he's having fun.................. DEFINITELY NOT my kind of fun!

"Hurry up, Mom...Iam starved!!!!

Cleaning ducks for breakfast!

The yellow stuff on the right is the duck's "craw". Zack opened the craw and said, "I bet you don't know where this duck has been by looking inside his craw?"

Thinking deeply, trying to muster up all of the duck anatomy trivia that I have come to possess over the 21 years that I have been with these sort of people...I answered with a pathetic..."I dunno, where?"

"The river, of course!" he shot back at me. "See all of this sand inside the craw?" He mushed it with his thumb and I could hear the gritiness of the grains. Ducks need to injest small pebbles and sand so that the seeds and all the other stuff that they eat, can get ground up before digestion."

"Hmmmm, are you sure?" I questioned.

"Mother...how long have I been duck hunting? he looked at me with an anoyed posture.

"Uhhhh...basically your whole life?

"Exactly - I know all there is to know about ducks! Now, where is the lighter so I can go get the grill hot and get these duck breasts grilling for my breakfast?

Mmmmmmm....grilled green-wing teal and a shoveler hen for Sunday breakfast!

Being a big senior, Jake has only been home long enough to raid the cupboards, create a higher laundry pile in the washroom and maybe, if I am lucky, do a few chores around the place. Certainly not willing to have his picture taken for the blog, so I'll have to work harder at trying to sneak a picture! He's off with Zack and Penny today, trying to find a wounded deer for some guy. It's cold, rainy and gusty! BLECH! Here they are recounting the saga of the wounded deer to their papa. At least Penny was able to track it down and the boys made a few "bucks" in return.

Dyke's hardly been here either - deer season, Thanksgiving and outlaws have kept him off the farm tracking people down, answering calls, and highspeed chases in the night. When he is home for an hour or two, he eats and then wallows on his couch, until the next call comes in.

I checked on the cows and got some good pics of the longhorns. Hopefully a rancher in East Texas will buy them...

A COWGIRL CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY BOOTS!

I CONTINUE TO AMASS COWBOY BOOTS - I THINK I NEED ANOTHER CUSTOM MADE BOOT RACK, HUNNY.....

Dyke's partner, Matt, blessed me with 7 gorgeous, fat, fluffy chickens! 5 hens and 2 roosters. I have been extremely diligent in locking them in the henhouse at night. They are just about laying age (5 weeks), so hopefully I'll start getting some fresh eggs again...Walmart just doesn't have eggs that compare!
