Luanne made their banner by hand and their cause was called: TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK

That was Wednesday afternoon and by Thursday evening, God blessed us with some wonderful, desperately needed rain!

It even hailed!!
This is Jake heading off to work at the local rodeo. He wouldn't turn around to get his picture taken, so I just took one anyway...that boy! He's working each night of the rodeo, moving stock, draggin' pens and Lord knows what else!
ZACK HITS THE MOTHER LODE!
Zack had his 8th grade awards ceremony the other night. Here are the awards that he earned this year:
MOST INQUISITIVE MATHEMATICAL MIND
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
TRACK-OUTSTANDING THROWER

FOOTBALL- MVP
SCIENCE FAIR - CHEMISTRY - 1st PLACE
SCIENCE- OUTSTANDING STUDENT
I don't usually watch Oprah, but since I was crippled up and confined at the house, I happened to turn it on one day and was in awe of the one that was on.....an exclusive inside look at Ralph Loren's Rocky Mountain Double RL Ranch......I don't know where to begin, except to add that it's kinda rednecky to take pictures of what's on your t.v. I couldn't help it - ol' Ralph and Ricky's mountain compound was absolutely breathtaking...even if you can't see it too well off the t.v.

VISITING ON THE PORCH

One of five hand-painted tipi guest dwellings...

complete with beds, couches, desks and chairs

a bit distorted...oops!

Horses, Cattle, Mountains, Fresh Air, Wide-Open Spaces...God's Perfection!

RUSTIC, BUT OH SO CHIC!

ICONIC IN EVERY WAY! (Nice tornado watch alert in the top corner!)

Ricky's 1st public interview...dressed in buttery soft, fringed buckskin pants, matching vest:handpainted and beaded, chambray, turquoise, silver and sheer joy, appreciation and strong spirituality!

It was warm, beautiful, honest, simple, humble and TOTALLY AMAZING! That's the exact look that I have been going for all these years! I'm going to fast for the next month and then only put in my mouth the food that this earth provides....I'm going to check Ebay out to find some of those din-o-mite buckskin leggin's and get some permanent hair extensions put in...
All kidding aside, what I loved the most, besides the quintessential western paradise that they've created for themselves, was that when they started out, they had nothing! He started his vision and passion for design by selling ties when he was 16 years old. That's what makes success, success. He didn't inherit millions and was not raised around the luxury and leisure of wealth...but, HE KNEW WHAT HE WANTED AND HE DIDN'T SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS.
It was a great interview, great scenery and I hobbled away with a deep sense of what this country called America is truly made of and stands for...
...and after I hobbled away, I started my housecleaning list.....and thanked God for the soaking rains.

It's amazing what a sack of cubes and some high pitched hollering will do...they all just sauntered into the pen and started their brunching!

We planned and executed an on-foot roping strategy with one son driving them to the barn and the other hiding in the shadows with the rope ready to slip a loop over the calf...
They all took off to get the runaways back in our pasture, as they had plowed through the fences and were out on the road. After about 15 minutes of soaking, I knew I had to get to the house to find the old crutches that we've kept around since Jake broke his legs 3 times in elementary school! I was able to hop about 15 feet to the horse trailer and drag a 1x4 piece of lumber out of the burn pile, to use as a crutch of sorts...I felt like I was back in the pioneer days, but was glad that I wasn't having to fight Comanches while I "poled" my way around the barn...it really wasn't helping much and I was getting splinters in my hand, so I ditched the piece of wood and got down on all fours and crawled the rest of the way, carefully holding my ankle up in the air. The cats immediately ran over and were pluming their tails and arched backs in my face as I crept along at their level.
